※Course content can be adjusted according to your needs. I use English at work and have little opportunity to use Japanese in either my workplace or my daily life.
I wanted to learn Japanese to maintain my Japanese language skills.
I have a job, so I’m not able to make it to regular courses at a Japanese language school.
Also, with online private lessons, I can ask the teacher questions about what I want to know without worrying about other students.
Practice necessary Japanese for typical and familiar situations N2-level vocabulary and grammar practice
At first, the student didn’t have a specific purpose of study. However, through our lessons, the student was able to decide to set a goal of passing JLPT N2.
However the purpose of the lessons is about more than just passing a test, so I also include activities in our lessons where the student can practice language skills that they find challenging.
For example, the student had a difficult time with Keigo (Japanese honorific expressions), so we worked on writing greeting cards to practice Keigo.

I really enjoyed the one-to-one tuition, which I found to be more focused, effective and fun than trying to learn on my own. It was invaluable to have a teacher, who was not only able to answer questions about grammar and vocabulary, but also why different words are used in different social settings, and to provide an insight into cultural context.
The flexibility afforded by having individual tuition at times that fitted around my schedule and my husband’s work trip was fantastic. Everyone was so kind and helpful that my initial nerves at going to ‘school’ again quickly evaporated and I loved every minute of it.
As a result, after only 5 days I felt more confident about handling day-to-day interactions and communicating more effectively with native Japanese speakers. I am inspired to keep on learning, and look forward to returning to the school for more tuition when we are next in Tokyo!
